While we have sorely missed having our event in our amazing original host venue Malvern Books, we are glad to continue our open mic in a virtual space. Until our open mic can return to our favorite bookstore, you can support Malvern Books by purchasing a selection of their books online through BookShop.
Our June open mic will be held online, via Zoom. We will start with featured readers (learn more about them below). Then it will be your time to shine. As always, we’re open to work in any genre: music, spoken word, improv, skits, storytelling, dance, poems or prose… Anything you can perform!
When: Sunday, June 7 from 1 to 2:30 PM
Where: Online via Zoom (link below)

“I have been writing all my life, especially in journals. I have participated in over 15 writing workshops, and writing groups in Central Texas, to include the Harker Heights Library, the VA Music Therapy/Writing Clinic, and many others. Of these workshops and groups, I have published works with the Re-Integration Project with VSA Texas, Art Sprarks/Scriveners Circle, and the Creative Arts Veteran’s Competition for which I have earned medals for my work. I have a published piece in the “The World of Poetry Anthology” called “Peace”. I am now hoping to pursue my MFA in Creative Writing in Fiction utilizing my GI-Bill from the Army in pursuit of writing the next Best Selling Novel, All American Great Epic Novel, Screen Play, or Movie or anything. Perhaps, I may teach writing at a college, university, online or just anywhere, somewhere.”

“I have lead a life of what some might call ”adventure lite.” I am a veteran of both the Navy and Air Force, during the Vietnam era, but never saw battle. I attended Woodstock, climbed Mount Fuji, fought the bull in the ring in Spain, [twice] have set foot in every US State, and am an accomplished ballroom dancer. I am 72 years old and I’m just getting my second wind.”
