Please join us for a Presentation of Stand-Up Comedy debut performances by 7 Austin comics created during the Stand Up for Mental Health 2019 Workshop presented in partnership with Stand-Up Comic and Counselor David Granirer.
This workshop is designed to encourage movement expressions through improvisation techniques founded upon the free approach to dance and movement pioneered by Barbara Mettler. Participants will be guided through movement explorations to expand movement vocabulary; to sense and feel kinesthetically how his/her/their body moves; and how to bring in his/her/their whole self to the dance. Movement themes will celebrate the natural, authentic dancer within each person and serve to encourage a fully inclusive and participatory creative environment where each individual can contribute to the group experiences.
Join us in celebrating our 2019 Artists of the Year! Hors d'oeuvres, coffee, tea and lemonade will be served. Music by Sean Wallace and Tristan Archer. Master of Ceremonies, Dolores Gonzales, ADA coordinator for the City of Austin (retired).
This month we invite you to speak about the moments where shedding the past became your only way forward, where casting the weight of the outgrown lightened your load just enough to carry on. What are the things you had to shake off, however haltingly? What new opportunities emerged in their place?
